Encouraged by the prospect of being awarded the much sought after and highly recognized Millennium Volunteer Award, young people volunteered to work in meaningful and fulfilling projects.
The project worked with Elite Youth’s existing pool of volunteers but also developed a strategy of promoting volunteering amongst young people and especially those hard-to-reach and disengaged young people.
In 2007/08, Elite Youth engaged 20 volunteers through the Millenium Volunteers programme. Young people aged 16-24 successfully completed 200 hours voluntary work. This included supprting our staff in youth and community work; running events like our annual Tower Hamlets Community Cup, and taking part in accredited courses.
